This is one of my favorite shots. The structure is strong, symmetry has a certain appeal, and yet, it offers high contrast visually and metaphorically. The notion of the choice between light and dark is obvious, but what’s interesting is that the choice is connected to the same door. The structural device that will usher in light or dark is the same, depending on where we put our energy–at least that’s the implication of this image.
The power of simple things continues to amaze me…
